Heidi MacVane
Raised on Cliff Island off the coast of Portland, Maine, Heidi grew up surrounded by nature and community. Her early years—working as a lobsterman and rowing competitively—fostered a lifelong connection to movement and physicality. Yoga became a natural bridge between her athletic background and her path of emotional healing.
Heidi holds a BSW from Syracuse University and an MSW from Boston University and is a licensed independent clinical social worker. After several years in clinical practice, she completed extensive yoga training, including two 200- and a 300-hour certification. Her continuing education includes specialized studies in Trauma-Sensitive Yoga, Yoga Therapy, Yin, Yoga Nidra, Restorative Yoga, Psychology of the Chakras, and sound healing.
Her vinyasa classes are breath-centered, vigorous, and taught in a heated studio with energizing music—creating space for movement, release, and transformation.
In 2007, Heidi returned to Maine and, in 2010, co-founded Greener Postures Yoga with Danielle Toolan—a dream realized and a way to share the light and love yoga brings to life. Deeply rooted in Portland’s yoga community, she holds immense gratitude for all her teachers, on and off the mat.
