Abby began practicing yoga while pursuing her college degree in Philosophy and Religion with a concentration in Eastern religion. Yoga provided not only a sense of spiritual peace, but also a physical peace by relieving chronic low back pain Abby had experienced since high school. When she moved to Portland after graduating, she began working at a preschool, finding her true calling to be those children with severe behavioral and developmental delays. The physicality of her position took quite a toll on Abby’s back, and so she rediscovered yoga at Greener Postures. The heat was intimidating at first- but upon leaving her first class, she was sold- and hasn’t looked back. After completing her 200 hour training in the spring of 2013, Abby has enjoyed teaching in both indoor and outdoor spaces. She particularly enjoys specialized yoga practices- pre- and post-natal, children’s yoga, and meditation are just a few of her yogic interests. She would like to thank all of her teachers and fellow Sacred Seeds grads as well as everyone at Greener Postures for the opportunity to be a part of the wonderful yoga community of southern Maine!
